If you are on the market for a self-tanner, you might have come across Tanwise self-tanner. Tanwise have a selection of tanning products available for self-tanning.
So, we decided to get a couple of them in and give them our fair verdict. We opted to try out their self-tanning face gel and their water-based foam in our Tanwise review.
Below we will give our thoughts on each and how they compare to some other brands out there.
Tanwise Self-Tanning Face Gel Review
As the name suggests this gel is just to be used on the face. Due to the gel’s consistency, it is easy to apply even in awkward areas, and it dries quickly.
In terms of development times this tanner is quite quick. You can expect it to take around 3-4 hours to develop which is quite fast for a self-tanner as some other brands can take twice or 3 times as long.
So, if you are in a bit of a hurry this one is a great choice. Once it’s developed you can easily take a shower and the result be there for all to see.
The end result is a beautiful golden glow without any orange hue or color to be seen. It’s arguably the best part of this tanner.
Also because of the gels consistency it can easily be mixed with moisturizer. If you prefer a lighter tone this is a fast and simple way to get a lighter tan without the need for buying another new tanner.
Keep in mind that you have you have 2 elements to this tanning gel. One being the instant bronzer effect and secondly the DHA effect.
The DHA is the part that takes time to develop but once developed you can shower, and the skin will remain tanned. The bronzer part of the mixture is the part that will wash off with a shower but there shouldn’t be any concern about that. Just make sure to allow for that initial development time of about 4 hours before going to take a shower.
A final note on the smell of this self-tanner is that it’s quite a pleasant smell that doesn’t smell unnatural or overly strong. That’s worth noting because some self-tanners have been known to have an overpowering or bad smell.
- Easy to apply even on awkard areas
- Both bronzer and DHA included
- Can be easily mixed with moisturizer
- Fast Development
- Only works on face
Tanwise Sunless Tanning Water Foam Review
This is this most interesting product from Tanwise in our eyes because of its water base. The main benefit of the foam being made from a water base is that it’s lighter and that makes application much easier.
Also at least in part due to the water base it makes the smell quite subtle. If you are looking for a self-tanner that is quite a mild and subtle smell this one is a great choice.
In terms of the color that this foam offers it’s great. It is a little darker than the average self-tanner you will use. So, if you prefer a lighter tan this probably isn’t the best choice for you. You can expect a smooth result that has no orange hue or color at all.
One thing to keep in mind with this foam is that it just has the DHA part of the mixture. What that means is basically you have no immediate tanned effect.
You will have to wait until the DHA develops on the skin. You can expect this development to take around 4-6 hours’ time. You should not shower or wash it off until it has completely developed. If you do so you risk the chance of the tan becoming patchy or ruined. In comparison to the face gel offered from Tanwise the development takes a little longer.
- Light mixture
- Easy to apply
- DHA only
- Quite quick development time
- No bronzer included
We enjoyed using Tanwise products. They offer good quality at a reasonable price point and both of the products we tried and tested have their own cases where using them is a great choice if they are the right fit for what you are looking for.
For example, the face gel is a great choice if you are just looking for a facial tanner that offers an immediate tanned effect along with a longer-term tan and the water foam is a great choice if you are looking for an easy to apply self-tanner without any bronzer being included.
Overall if these products sound like a fit for you needs, they will almost certainly be a great choice for you!
